Privacy Policy

Introduction

My Poker Face ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Jeff Harris. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our poker game. My Poker Face is a single-player game against AI personalities. It is played with virtual chips only — there is no real-money wagering, deposits, or payouts.

Information We Collect

• Account information: If you create an account, your name and email address from your sign-in provider (Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple). With Apple's "Hide My Email", we only receive a private relay address.
• Guest play: You can play without an account. For guests we don't collect your name or email; we use a device cookie and a value derived from your IP address to enforce fair-use limits (such as free-hand caps) and prevent abuse.
• Game data: Your gameplay actions, decisions, hand history, and progress.
• Optional profile details: If you choose to add them, a short "about you" bio and a profile avatar. These are optional and only collected when you provide them.

How We Use Your Information

• Authentication: To identify you and maintain your account.
• Game functionality: To run the game, save your games, and track your progress.
• AI gameplay and coaching: To generate the AI opponents' play and table talk, and — if you use the optional coaching feature — to analyze your hands and decisions and give you feedback.
• Safety: To screen submitted text for inappropriate content (see Content Moderation below).
• Improvement: To understand gameplay patterns and improve the game.

Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your information is the performance of our contract with you — providing the game, your account, and the features you choose to use. Where we process a limited amount of data to keep the game safe (such as content moderation and preventing abuse), we rely on our legitimate interest in protecting the service and its players.

AI Providers and What We Send Them

We use third-party AI providers to power the AI poker players and the optional coaching feature. My Poker Face is not a general-purpose chatbot — for most players, the AI is limited to in-game opponents. The information sent to these providers is limited to:

• In-game context needed for the AI to play (such as cards, the board, the pot, and actions taken at the table);
• The display name and optional bio you choose to share, so the AI characters can address you and react to you; and
• For the optional coaching feature (a paid feature), your hands and decisions so the coach can review them. This is the largest use of AI in the app and is only active when you use coaching.

We do not send your email address, sign-in identifiers, or IP address to these AI providers. Our current providers include OpenAI, Google, xAI, and Groq, and we may add or change providers over time. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy and terms.

Content Moderation

To keep the game safe, free text you submit (such as a profile bio, a display name, chat or table talk, and custom AI-personality descriptions), along with text we send to our AI providers, is screened through OpenAI's content-moderation service. This is used only to detect and block inappropriate content.

Optional Avatar Image Generation

If — and only if — you choose to generate a profile avatar from a description or from a photo you upload, the image or prompt is sent to an image-generation provider (Runware) to create the avatar. This is entirely opt-in: we never upload your photos unless you initiate it.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in, maintain your session, and (for guests) enforce fair-use limits. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Error and Performance Monitoring

We use Sentry to capture error and diagnostic reports that help us find and fix problems. These reports can include technical details and, where relevant, an account identifier so we can investigate an issue. Sentry processes this data under its own privacy policy.

Where Your Data Is Processed

Your data is stored and processed in the United States, and is accessed by us from the United States. Our AI and infrastructure providers may process data in the United States and other countries (see AI Providers above). If you use My Poker Face from outside the United States — including from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom — your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your own country. Where these transfers require safeguards, we put appropriate ones in place with our providers (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses). We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your account and game data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account): your account is deactivated immediately and permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period, during which you can restore it by signing back in. More detailed operational records (such as AI request logs) are kept for up to 120 days and then deleted. The information sent to AI providers is limited and contains little or no personal data, and you can remove the optional profile details you provided (your bio and avatar) at any time. Guests can clear their guest session at any time from the same screen.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Request correction or deletion of your account and associated data;
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and delete your account at any time.

You can exercise account deletion directly in the app, or contact us using the details below for any other request.

Children's Privacy

My Poker Face depicts simulated gambling and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by the app's store rating. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
